PCalc App Reviews

Great utility with welcome regular updates

PCalc has been a solid utility for years and the developer should be applauded for still taking risks and trying new things without impacting core functionality - I never wouldve guessed how useful a simple calculator would be on the notification screen for example. Thank you! If you dont like the new icon, consider beseeching Apple to let you customize app icons like on OS X - no developer can please everyone!

Awesome! The calculator watch I always wanted

Now I can computer on my computer watch. Lovely look, feel, and function.

The best calculator ever.

This calculator is clean, elegant and most of all functional. I use it everyday because nothing comes close. Re icon: "42" has a significance. Suggest author include the story behind the number into the app. Thats why 42=Pcalc.

Awesome Calculator!

This is an awesome app. Probably the best calculator for iOS. The graphics are amazing and the functionality superb. It seems a bit expensive for an app but you wont be disappointed.

Excellent app that continues to improve

PCalc is the rare app that manages to add features without cluttering the user interface or getting in your way. I was a satisfied customer when I first bought it at Version 1, and Im even more satisfied now. PCalcs list of features—unit conversions; base conversions; built-in constants; RPN mode; multi-line display (with your choice for the value of "multi"); user-defined functions and unit conversions; and selectable color themes, keyboard layouts, and digit styles—is impressive, but whats more impressive is the care with which they are implemented. The popup indicators that tell you which key youre pressing, the sliding display that stays on screen as you choose a conversion or change a preference, the stack display that also shows you the contents of the memory slots—these are the small things that need to be done right if the features are to be usable. PCalc does them right. Finally, PCalc lets you create your own custom keyboard layouts. This, combined with user-defined functions and conversions, allows you to turn it into almost any type of calculator you want. Youre getting, in effect, an infinite number of calculators. A few years ago, the batteries in my physical calculator died, and I never replaced them. PCalc is what I reach for.

Best calculator app in the store.

What an awesome app. But that icon. Wow. All I can say is wow. It inspired me to to great things. First I woke up this morning and sat on my front porch and had a coffee. It was wonderful. Second if your not using an app or giving it a bad review because of an icon change get out of your parents basement and go outside and find a new life.

Great Calculator

I really love this calculator. I’m using PCalc on OS X, iOS and now finally on the Apple Watch. As the rest has been brilliant for quite some time, here’s my opinion on the Watch version: The developer really made more out of the restricted UI than I thought possible. Therefore, I find myself quite often standing there like a real geek, using a calculator-watch … Finally, the developer is quite open to suggestions. Sending him an email does often result in new functionality.

Constantly improving

Great calculator, have been using it for years and it just keeps getting better. Love RPN support, being able to choose 3D Touch actions, and the new icon is easy to see in a group.

Superb App! ... and I Like the New Icon, too.

PCalc is the Swiss Army knife of calculators, and I mean that in terms of features, flexibility, and ease of use. It has an exceptional design and implementation that continues to improve over the years. This is a rare app where the new features really add to the usefulness of the product. If I had to buy my apps all over again, this would be the first app that I would buy; honest and truly. I am very pleased with the new icon because it makes PCalc so easy to find on the screen. It is much superior to the old icon. If you are looking to buy PCalc and reading these reviews, you should ignore comments about the icon, because the PCalc app itself is so worthwhile. PCalc is probably the best value in the App Store. If you buy it, you won’t regret it.

Great Calc, especially for RPN

For those of us who prefer an RPN type calculator, this one has been one of the best. This app allows the user to see multiple stack levels which makes using it so much nicer. Very importantly, this calculator lets people have a choice of the old RPN or the updated RPL which it calls HP48 style RPN (RPL was an improvement over RPN when using visible multi stack levels). The customization is excellent so you have the functions you need readily available. Also, thank you for listening and implementing customers comments. That is what has propelled this app to be the top general calc app available (especially with so many free calc apps and the Apple supplied one). People are still willing to pay for this one.

Beats all possible calculators. I keep it on my dock in both iOS (phone and pad) and OSX, and use it daily. My favorite of all third-party apps. Beyond compare. Great for base conversions and all manner of numeric fiddling. Fun keyboard themes and editing. James Thomson at TLA does a great job. Scrupulously up to date, with frequent new feature surprises. Great imagination. (Other calculator apps? Pthpthpthpthpth...

“42” is the meaning of life from HGttG

The number 42 is, in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, " Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything", calculated by an enormous supercomputer named Deep Thought over a period of 7.5 million years. And the Wikipedia reveals 42 to be important in most religions. Thus Calc is both powerful and worthy of use. Beyond the sense of humor of the developer, PCalc is my go-to calculator for everything beyond basic arithmetic. It’s also easy and great for basic arithmetic, but it feels like using a Shelby Cobra racing car to go to the grocery store. It is very customizable, and the colors available make the keyboard more readable and usable AND attractive, rather than the “designer” keyboards that blend all the keys together graphically, putting style over function. I like this calculator, and I always have. And I’ve never gotten weird calculation mistakes, like I have with several of the calculators I’ve tried. PCalc is a Keeper.
